We use advanced modern technology, science and engineering in order to advance regional development through the manufacturing of high value products, the creation of sustainable jobs and to make a meaningful contribution to the GDP of the Northern Cape Province and South Africa.
NCPAR (Northern Cape ProTech Agri Revolution) was founded on a simple but critical insight: the Northern Cape holds vast untapped value—not in new mining, but in its accumulated waste.
Over decades, billions of tonnes of iron-ore fines, slimes, and tailings have been deposited across the region. Historically treated as uneconomical by-products, these resources represent a significant missed industrial opportunity. Recognising this, Francois Roos, together with the late Marcus Banga, initiated NCPAR to unlock this value through beneficiation, technology, and structured project execution.
What began over seven years ago as a technical and strategic investigation into waste-to-value processing has evolved into a fully defined industrial platform. The vision is not a single plant, but a scalable beneficiation ecosystem—transforming low-grade waste into high-value products such as pig iron, while integrating energy, logistics, and agricultural development.
NCPAR aligns directly with South Africa’s national priorities on beneficiation, industrialisation, and sustainable resource utilisation. By converting historical waste into economic output, NCPAR addresses environmental liabilities, reduces export inefficiencies, and creates a foundation for long-term regional growth.
At its core, NCPAR is a post-mining economy platform—designed to shift the Northern Cape from extraction to value creation.
